Elegance with Intention

For Aida Mandić, fashion is only one facet of a life defined by relentless ambition. The Bosnian-American author, entrepreneur, activist, inventor and motivational speaker has published more than 130 books in just five years, with another twenty already waiting to be released. Her work explores themes of social justice, courage, identity, discrimination, rebellion and the refugee experience, while her career extends into education, technology and innovation through ventures such as Searchkey and the IdeaGist Blockchain Incubator. Captured by photographer Milah Renee, these portraits present a woman whose confidence is shaped not by appearance alone, but by intellect, resilience and purpose.

Moving effortlessly between refined tailoring and vibrant floral silhouettes, the editorial reflects the many dimensions of Mandić's personality. Makeup and hair by Sanija Mandic-Zuko complement a visual narrative that balances elegance with authenticity, allowing every frame to echo the determination behind her remarkable journey. More than a fashion story, this editorial celebrates a creative force who continues to redefine success through education, activism and an unwavering commitment to inspiring others.

Interview with Aida

VIONNE: Aida, in our last conversation, you spoke about becoming completely independent from other people's validation. Has there been a recent moment that challenged that belief?

Aida: Not really. I survived the Bosnian Genocide. I saw heads rolling down the street during the war. I don’t get intimidated by ignorance, superficiality, and vanity.

VIONNE: You've built a career across writing, technology, business, and activism. Is there one part of yourself you feel the public still misunderstands?

Aida: I would love to be heard more in the area of activism and invention. I would love to see people being more involved in areas of invention that cater to self-defense and dealing with dangerous situations in a constructive way.

VIONNE: Success often changes the people around us. Has your definition of trust changed as your career has grown?

Aida: Yes. I respect people who make me feel natural and comfortable around them. Sincerity is hard to come by these days. I am extremely selective with who I allow into my life.

VIONNE: You've spoken openly about discipline. Do you believe discipline is something people are born with, or something anyone can deliberately build?

Aida: You build discipline. It’s like a muscle. You have to work at it every day.

VIONNE: Looking ahead ten years, what kind of legacy do you hope people associate with the name Aida Mandić?

Aida: I hope that people associate me with creativity, courage, compassion, and determination. I think that it’s important to be respected and admired. Actresses tend to be objectified and sexualized. I want to be intellectualized. I think that being different is a form of heroism.

__

VIONNE: Books or Films?

Aida: That question puts me between a rock and a hard place because I equally love both artistic expressions.

VIONNE: Poetry or Prose?

Aida: Poetry all the way.

VIONNE: Speaking on Stage or Writing in Silence?

Aida: I’m skilled at both. I love speaking on stage about how I wrote in silence.

VIONNE: Vintage Elegance or Modern Minimalism?

Aida: Vintage Elegance.

VIONNE: New York or Oxford?

Aida: Oxford. No dilemma.

VIONNE: Planning Every Detail or Trusting the Moment?

Aida: Planning every detail.

VIONNE: Coffee or Tea?

Aida: Tea. Green tea, black tea, ginger tea, turmeric tea. I love healthy living and organic foods/drinks.

VIONNE: Inspire or Challenge?

Aida: Inspiration challenges mindsets and beliefs. Both.
