Sculpted Obsession
In Dark Passion, photographer Madiha Abdo blurs the boundary between fashion image and contemporary artwork, constructing surreal portraits charged with mystery, geometry, and emotional ambiguity. Draped in sculptural headpieces, pearls, metallic forms, and saturated midnight tones, the female figures appear almost untouchable — suspended somewhere between human presence and abstract design object. Each composition is meticulously layered, inviting viewers into a visual experience that feels both luxurious and deliberately disorienting.
Abdo approaches her subjects not as straightforward portraits, but as open-ended narratives shaped through symbolism and curiosity. Together with makeup artist Emma Rose and models Elisha Grodin, Sarah Jessen, and Rebecca Mellor, the editorial embraces ambiguity as part of its language. Faces partially disappear beneath ornate constructions, while sharp color contrasts and exaggerated silhouettes challenge conventional beauty imagery. Rather than offering fixed meanings, Dark Passion encourages speculation, allowing the viewer to move through the work with fascination, uncertainty, and imagination.
