Raw Fashion Energy
With Untamed Contrast, Jeffrey Sielski continues to refine a visual language that thrives on duality—controlled versus spontaneous, color versus monochrome, studio versus street. Set against the raw backdrop of New York City, this series strips fashion down to its essential elements, allowing light, texture, and presence to take center stage. The result is a body of work that feels immediate, unfiltered, and powerfully intentional.
At the heart of the story is KP The Legend, whose natural command in front of the camera anchors every frame. Her ability to move effortlessly within the unpredictability of outdoor shooting transforms each image into something dynamic yet composed. Paired with designs by Imani Rose, the visuals strike a balance between structure and fluidity, reinforcing the narrative of contrast that defines the series.
Shot entirely in black and white, Untamed Contrast is not just an aesthetic choice—it is a statement. By removing color, Sielski amplifies emotion, form, and atmosphere, creating images that feel both timeless and contemporary. It’s a return to a style he has long appreciated, now reimagined through the energy of the streets and the power of collaboration.
Interview with Jeffrey Sielski
VIONNE: Jeffrey, Untamed Contrast continues your exploration of outdoor black-and-white photography. What draws you so strongly to this raw, monochrome direction right now?
Jeffrey: It has been a long time since I shot in this style, but I have always loved B&W in fashion for me its a powerful representation.
VIONNE: Your studio work is often bold and colorful, while your outdoor work leans into black and white. What is the idea behind this contrast in your creative identity?
Jeffrey: I love the contrast between both photographic styles.
VIONNE: KP The Legend appears completely in her element here. What makes her such a strong collaborator for this more natural, unfiltered approach?
Jeffrey: That's exactly right Kaitlin is a complete natural in front of the camera, she always bring her A game to every shoot, always amazing working with her.
VIONNE: Natural light plays a central role in this story. How do you approach shaping light outdoors compared to building it in a studio environment?
Jeffrey: When using natural you really have to pay attention to the direction of the light, in the studio you have total control over lighting, outdoors you watch direction very important.
VIONNE: The title Untamed Contrast suggests both visual and emotional tension. What does “contrast” mean to you in this context?
Jeffrey: To me the power & emotian that B&W brings to the images.
VIONNE: The locations feel spontaneous yet intentional. How do you choose environments when shooting on the streets, and what do you look for in a setting?
Jeffrey: That's the beauty of shooting outdoors in NYC so many amazing locations, I always with look at 2 things before I shoot at a particular spot the light & the background.
VIONNE: Compared to RAW & UNCUT, how does this series evolve your outdoor storytelling? Is there a shift in perspective or intention?
Jeffrey: This series with a different clothing style I wanted some different locations that would keep the shoot fresh.
VIONNE: Looking ahead, do you see this duality—colorful studio versus raw black-and-white outdoor—continuing as a signature of your work?
Jeffrey: I would say yes, I like going back & forth between both, I look forward to shooting in both styles.
